At this conference at the Catholic University in Lublin, around 150 professors and students from many parts of Poland and Ukraine were able to familiarise themselves with the "Theory and Practice of the International Education Network PILGRIM". The speakers came from the "Centre for Sustainability and Spirituality" at the University College of Christian Churches of Teacher Education in Vienna/Krems, from "PILGRIM", from the HAUP in Vienna and from universities in Lublin and Katowice. The topic in Lublin was set by Curia Cardinal Peter Turkson at the certification in Vienna. He described the "integral development of the person" as a special mission of the encyclical "Laudato si'" by Pope Francis. Prof Andrzej Kiciński, Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin, emphasised the importance of the topic of preserving creation in an academic context. "PILGRIM" has drawn attention to the role of spirituality in the educational endeavours for sustainability and defined it as an important factor for implementation in practical life. The "PILGRIM" initiative for sustainability and spirituality represents an important impulse for the education of teachers in Poland. A total of 66 Polish schools and institutions, including the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia in Katowice, the first "PILGRIM" university, has already been honoured by "PILGRIM". In Lublin, three further institutions have been included in the "PILGRIM" network. Text: Johann Hisch Image, left ©kathbild.at/Rupprecht Franz
