142 143 Great, holy God, You created the whole world with Your Word and gave man the task of cultivating the earth. In this way, man can harvest a variety of fruits and use them to prepare food. We thank you for favourable weather with sun, wind and rain. May man's work on nature be done with responsibility and joy, so that you may bless him with the abundance of the fruits of the earth. May peace reign among the peoples. We bring this thanks and this plea together and in unison before Your Face. Where two or three gather in Your Name, there You are with them as a blessing from heaven for the earth. Kyrie eleison (From the Serbian Orthodox tradition) Creator of the universe! Our world comes from your love. We marvel at your work and praise you. What you have created is good, very good. Preserve our joy in nature and increase our reverence for life. Grant that we do nothing that harms your creation. Help us to be merciful to all creatures. We too are of the earth and thank you for every breath we take. Bless us so that our children and grandchildren may also inhabit this earth with all your creatures. With the breath of your spirit, you want to renew the world. We praise you for this and hope in you. Amen. (From the Protestant tradition of the Helvetic Confession) Our Father in the heaven Who art, Who tellest all of us in heart Brothers to be, and on Thee call, And wilt have prayer from us all, Grant that the mouth not only pray, From deepest heart oh help its way. From all that’s evil free Thy sons – The time, the days are wicked ones. Amen! that is, let this come true! Strengthen our faith ever anew, That we may never be in doubt Of that we here have prayed about. In Thy name, trusting in Thy word. We say a soft Amen, O Lord. (From: Martin Luther "Vater unser im Himmelreich” (Our Father in Heaven) – short version Give us bread to share, enough for everyone, every day. Forgive us, just as and when we have forgiven. Don't let us fall into saturated indifference, into xenophobia and loss of faith! (From the Old Catholic tradition)
