Miarka District School Complex No. 2 in the international PILGRIM project” (Dr Natalia M. Ruman ) was issued. The same year, on 14 June 2016, at the PILGRIM headquarters in Austria, representatives of the K. Miarka District School Complex No. 2 in Pszczyna received a certificate of acceptance of the school into the PILGRIM network, and at the same time, the project coordinator, Dr Natalia Maria Ruman, became its Ambassador in Silesia. On 28 April 2017, the 2nd International Scientific Conference titled “The Idea of Sustainability in 21st Century Education - Ecology of Life” took place. The event had an interdisciplinary character. At the center of the research attention was primarily the PILGRIM idea, which holds special significance for people in their developmental process and functioning within culture. The scientific meeting was a continuation of the discussions initiated at the previous conference, addressing issues related to educational forms. One of its questions was: How can new principles of organizing education for sustainability be implemented into everyday school life? Many speakers provided their suggestions and insights on these questions and issues in light of the proposed changes. The outcome of their presentations was the publication titled “Ecology – Responsibility for Future Generations: Creativity of Entities Cooperating in the PILGRIM Idea with the District School Complex No. 2 in Pszczyna”, which showcased the projects of Polish and foreign institutions collaborating with this school. The year 2018 was marked by a number of important events. On 13 March, the International Conference was held at the Conference Center of the former Faculty of Ethnology and Educational Science of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn. From 17-21 October, high school students from the social pedagogy classes of the K. Miarka District School Complex No. 2 in Pszczyna participated in the activities of the PILGRIM project "72 Stunden ohne Kompromiss' (72 hours without compromise). The exchange with the partner school Gymnasium Purkersdorf had avery positive outcome. Besides deepening their knowledge of Austria’s history and improving their proficiency in English and German, Polish and Austrian students built a place in the Pszczyna city park for mothers to spend time with their children and a grove for animals. The joint action showed that young people are guided in life by the motto "Pure joy of life, energy, and positive thinking – motivation for us all!". The entire undertaking was covered in local media. Furthermore, from 23-25 November, the Pszczyna school participated in the European Youth Meeting – PILGRIM in Katowice. Over 170 young people from seven European countries discussed how to collectively take care of the fate of the earth. The meeting was connected to the UN Climate Summit COP24 in December of the same year. On 13 March 2019, a meeting with guests from Austria took place before a joint trip to Primary School No. 37 in Katowice, where the next day another international PILGRIM conference titled “Sustainabilty in Education in Polish and Austrian Schools” was held. The meeting was complemented by performances of the “Folkowianie” ensemble under the supervision of Agnieszka Antecka and Stanislaw Kokot, students of the K. Miarka School Complex No. 2 in Pszczyna and Primary School No. 37 in Katowice, as well as children from Municipal Kindergarten No. 67 with Integrative Departments in Katowice and Non-public kindergarten "Radocha" in Pszczyna. On 11 January 2020, the PILGRIM classroom and training facility was opened at the Pszczyna school, where the idea of sustainable development in education is practically implemented. On 24 March 2021, another international PILGRIM conference was held remotely (via ZOOM), organised by the K. Miarka District School Complex No. 2 in Pszczyna. The topics presented in the lectures by Austrian guests enabled many valuable insights to be formulated regarding the condition of contemporary education and the upbringing of future generations. The lively discussions accompanying it were not only a sign of great interest in the presented issues but also provided a platform for the exchange of experiences between Polish and foreign representatives of academic institutions and practitioners engaged in this important topic. The conference was also attended by representatives of institutions that had received certifications for joining the International Education Network PILGRIM for their previous work on sustainable development. On 16 November 2021, the 8th international PILGRIM conference took place at the District School Complex No. 2 in Pszczyna, during which discussions were held on sustainability in education. Speakers from Austria and Ukraine presented the origins and significance of initiatives promoting the concept of sustainability in the education of the youngest.
