PILGRIM in Dialogue with Sustainability and Spirituality

104 105 consciously, being attentive to the challenges of the future. Furthermore, in line with the current of education, we know that we actually learn the most by acting, practising, and improving. A condition for effective education is a sense of security, indispensable in any creative endeavour, which shields us from fear and uncertainty while providing strength in facing challenges. This sense of security is deeply rooted in PILGRIM, evident in its respect for diversity and the perspective it brings to human beings in all their essence. In addition to "hard knowledge", other values always appear on the horizon. One of them is the formation of new relationships, and even friendships, with the people for whom the project is intended or with those who are active participants in the planned goals and tasks. This happens almost always regardless of the field in which the project is located – whether it’s ecology, health, education, or artistic creativity. In the world of young people, where currently most relationships are maintained through social media, real contacts imbued with working towards a common goal provide an essential experience of the world with another person. Invaluable and constructive, especially for the younger generation. And we, slightly more mature, can joyfully and hopefully participate in this process. It is crucial to mention the emotions accompanying the young, such as joy, enthusiasm, and surprise - they drive creativity and innovation; they are simply pro-development. I often refer to young people working in teams because they are the ones who most significantly shape the future, designing solutions, perhaps using methods like design thinking, which reveal problems that we can anticipate, suspect, or expect to arise. They already have an awareness of them today. They begin consciously building the future because there is no other path for the next generations. Everything I have mentioned above was and is part of the experience associated with participation and being part of the PILGRIM institution. We all have gained - beneficiaries, users, and creators of new methods, especially in the field of dental and medical care focused on people with disabilities. We supported dental students in communication and adaptation of patients with disabilities, we participated in the European Youth Meeting - PILGRIM before the UN Climate Summit, we got to know other institutions and schools certified as PILGRIM institutions, we saw how the cultural heritage of different regions of Poland is integrated into the daily lives of children and young people, we observed many initiatives aimed at helping the excluded or those at risk of exclusion. It can be said that thanks to the growing awareness within the PILGRIM movement, the values defined by this movement are alive and building the future. They build consciously and remind us of what we can do to build a good future. These are a handful of reflections that I share with you in the hope of meeting within the PILGRIM movement.
